(More customer reviews)Received two of these units and they both turned themselves off after one cycle of the lights. The fix that worked for me on both units was.
1. Pry off top surface
2. Remove batteries being careful to remember which surface of the battery was up
3. Leave batteries out of unit for one minute
4. Replace batteries, but reverse the position (put the previously top battery on the bottom)
5. Make sure you press down for at least 30 sec. to activate the unit
Should work fine after that
