(More customer reviews)I bought two of these Wheel Arches for my wife and myself. First of all they do not support the bikes like Saris claims. We put the racks together and the arches allowed the bikes to fall to one side. After this we tried one arch and the bike setting in this arch did fall over. I contacted Saris but wasn't satisfied with their response, that the arches would do what they were designed to do. We also sent photo's of bikes falling over with the arches wrapped around the wheels. Contacted Saris again and was told the arches were to support bike during storage. Obviously a photo of the arch wrapped around the wheel of a bike lying on the ground didn't suffice.So instead of going through all the hassle of sending them back I just took them to my friend whois re-engineering them. I was very disappointed with the arches. I was surprised at this because I own a T -Rax 700 bike rack and it is a nice rack and well worth the money we spent on it.

Tension Mounted Aluminum Bicycle Rack (Classic Black) (7' - 11') Review

(More customer reviews)My husband and I recently purchased this aluminum floor-to-ceiling bicycle rack from another website and were very excited when we received it.However, once we started to put it together, we found it VERY DIFFICULT to assemble!The spacer and extenders were manufactured too large to fit in the main body pieces, which made simply sliding the pieces together impossible.Needless to say, we had to use some creative methods of our own to figure out how to get the pieces together, which took a couple of hours.Now that we have the rack assembled (with 4 bikes on it), it seems like it will hold, but it is wobbly when touched.We have concrete floors and ceilings however so the tension aspect of the design works great; it is very secure and isn't going anywhere.We were very dissapointed with the lack of attention paid to making sure the pieces would even fit together properly.Although the end product is good, I would not recommend this product to a friend due to its difficult assembly.

Sunlite Single Storage Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I have three of these fold-up Sunlite Bike Storage Racks in my Bike Garage. After purchasing and using the first, I was impressed with their design, simplicity, strength and convenience. They are easy to install(make sure the screws are into a wall stud), have a small footprint on the wall, and fold up when not being used. Their strong and flexible design enable them to hold both road bikes and mountain bikes. My MTB weighs in at 25lbs+. The rubber tipped brackets protect frames from scraping, however I added short lengths of red silicone rubber hose to each bracket to add extra protection for my Carbon Frames. Their design also provides storage for shoes, helmets, etc. Again, I modified the storage capabilities by clamping a short length of plywood to the top of the rack.
I am very pleased with the Sunlite Racks and I'm certain you will be too. Again, just make sure it is mounted into a strong wall stud. Enjoy.

(More customer reviews)I just put this rack together today, and one of the major pieces (the "arm" of the rack, which is the piece which actually holds the bike) was broken.This meant that half the bike rack is unusable.

This was not the deal-breaker for me, though.This rack doesn't work for small bikes!!!!I have a 44 cm frame, women's specific racing bike, and the "arm" was too large to fit my bike frame, so there is literally no way to hang my bike on this rack.Small cyclists, beware!

Michelangelo 2 Bike Gravity Stand Review

The allen bolts that tighten the poles stripped on the first tightening, the poles were not flush at the joints giving the whole stand a lopsided look. Following the instructions, I positioned the stand against the wall and put my first bike (the heavier one, 23lbs) on the hooks. Ok, no problem here. Added the second bike - the 16lb machine - to the upper hooks, and the whole stand started to fall away from the wall. Took both bikes down, rechecked the instructions, made a couple of minor positioning adjustments and rehung the bikes. Same result. The only way I could prevent this stand from toppling over was to use the top hooks for just a 4lb frame.

A most unsatisfactory product and an excellent advertisement for buying a more expensive, stable storage system.

Crawford FBR34 EZ UP Self Raising Indoor Bike Storage Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I did not buy this model by Crawford, but bought Canadian Tire's version (called Mastercraft). I believe they are the EXACT same design, just a different label for this hydraulic bike lift.They look the same and I haven't seen anything else on the market that looks like it.

PROS:
Store a bike high on your wall with the ability to lower it down without having to manually lift its entire weight off the wall from above your head like other bike mounts.
Store a bike underneath bike on the lift arm with the included optional Flip Up Bike Hanger (which can also be mounted separately in a different location and not with the bike lift)

CONS:
Extremely stiff lift arm when you do try to pull the bike down (this is nothing like pushing the back trunk door of a CRV or caravan with hydraulic lift arm...you can push those down with 2 fingers, this one you have to grip tightly with your hand(s) to pull down the bike)...I have to press one hand into the wall bracket for leverage as I pull the lift arm toward me to get it to start lowering.It is a stiff pull the whole way down too.
Gas Cylinder in lift arm is weak and prone to easy bending, thus potentially rendering your bicycle lift inoperable.

COMMENTS:

Lift arm must be pulled down SLOWLY and ALWAYS MONITORED that the gas cylinder is going into the lift arm STRAIGHT AND TRUE, it can EASILY BEND BEYOND REPAIR, thus rendering your bicycle lift inoperable. Each and every time you pull the lift arm down, you will always need to watch that the gas cylinder is going into the lift arm tube straight and evenly.I would suggest NEVER pull down the bike with the lower lift arm tube (the gas cylinder goes inside this part), ALWAYS pull down the bike with the lift arm's upper longer tube.

After installing, I suggest you practice pulling the lift arm upper tube down and up at least a dozen times to lessen the stiffness of the lift arm.

As well, the Hinge Pins that mount the Hinge Plate to the Wall Bracket are a tad too thick to insert in the hing pin holes in the wall bracket.You will need something like a rotary tool to widen the holes in the wall bracket just slightly.I tried to hammer the pins in and they bounced out no matter how hard I pounded.

Perhaps the difficulty is because I am a 38yr old female with not the upper arm strength of a guy (I do however weight lift and am average to above average in strength for a 5'5" tall woman)...so yes I think this would be easier for a guy...however it is still very stiff and sudden brute strength would bend your product, so you still have to be careful.

It cannot even hold the weight of my bike and bends out to side and eventually my bike falls.
I tried to adjust the distance between the two archs to fit the tire width to see if I get better result but no luck.

Delta Rothko Rolling Bicycle Stand Review

(More customer reviews)The stand assembles in around 10-15 minutes, depending on if you know which pre-drilled holes to use or not.The build quality is reasonable, but the bolts for the casters don't all fit screw in evenly.This doesn't affect the functionality, but seems like something that shouldn't be an issue w/ today's manufacturing technologies.

The casters are great, allowing some movement of the bike and stand without removing the bike.

The only areas of improvement are maybe some better design or feature that further prevents the wheel from tipping/leaning in either direction.Preferably a simple machining or stamping solution as part of the regular manufacturing process that doesn't increase the price would be best.

Compactness is good, too.I have 6 bikes in the garage, and they all store neatly next to each other.

Value, convenience, and size are this stand's strong points.

Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased and installed the Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist for my mountain bike.After reading the the reviews of other hoists from Rad and Racor, I chose the Delta because it had the least negative reviews.

Most of these negative comments were related to the supplied mounting screws.The screws are typical Asian-made hardware, not the best in the world - but the screws supplied are not defective.With the proper drive tool, they can be easily used.They are Pozidrive screws, I added an image to the photo gallery to illustrate how a Pozidrive screw is identified.These can be driven by a Phillips driver, but it requires care to properly align the driver with the screw drive recess.If the driver is allow to move off center to an angle while apply drive torque, the bit will easily "cam out."

To successfully use the supplied screws, a proper screwdriver must be used.Most people, myself included, do not own Pozidrive tools.I used a #3 Phillips bit in a cordless drill/driver and had no trouble with the screws.However,if you're not comfortable with this, or don't have a #3 Phillips driver, then it's easy enough to go to the local hardware store and buy some screws for under a dollar.

As to the operation of the hoist after getting it installed, it works great.The bicycle raises fairly evenly (stays level) and the rope catch holds it securely in place once the bike is up.As another reviewer mentioned, it works sort of like a venetian blind type device.It's still wise to also use the supplied rope cleat to tie-off the excess rope as an added safety measure.

I love the way this bicycle hoist works and am very happy with it.

(More customer reviews)I have a garage full of bikes and I needed some organization badly.I saw this rack during a search on Amazon and it looked like just what I needed.When it arrived I was immediately impressed by the materials and construction : it is very well made and the pieces feel substantial.All the fasteners are allen heads which is a quality touch.The quality was such that I thought it must be made in the USA ! But alas, after searching the packaging carefully, I found the elusive "made in China" sticker.Oh well, what isn't made in China?
Assembly went well and all the parts went together without much struggle.Follow the tip in the instructions to leave all fasteners "loose" until assembly is complete.When I got it together and tightened all fasteners snugly I hung 4 bikes on it and it is very stable.I have to say I am very satisfied with this product and feel comfortable in recommending it to others.
